Sowing seeds for the future: financial planning
The month of May is my favourite month. I see it as the month that bridges Spring to Summer. It’s the time where we see the seeds we planted earlier in the year start turning into shoots ready to blossom.
This got me thinking of a person’s lifetime. Moreover, the different life stages we go through, and how they can also be compared to the seasons.
When you are aged 20 to 40, it’s the time you start to see some green shoots to appear from your life plan and, like in spring, your roots are taking hold.
When you are aged 40 to 60, those green shoots of your life plan that you cultivated in spring should be blossoming throughout the summer. You will hopefully see steady growth. The shoots are now plants which have several flowers.
As you move to your 60s, it is like autumn: the harvest-time. This is the period we’d all like to be in a position where we get to sample the fruits of our labour and enjoy retired life.
As you’re relishing the harvest, you will move to the winter months. This is a time of reflection. It is where you may decide to re-sow some of the seeds from your harvest for a new generation.
Here at Jones & Co, we want to help you make the most of every season. It’s never too early to start your financial planning.
